Lisa's Dolce Italia

Lisa Anderson is a professional tour guide and lifestyle blogger. A Seattle native, Lisa was always interested in archeology and her first excavation was done at 8 years of age and consisted of locating and digging where a historic photo showed a well in front of her aunt’s historic farmhouse. The pieces of broken ceramics, mason jars and metal lighters that she found inspired her to study cultural anthropology and archeology at Western Washington University.

Her first trip to Europe, just before graduating from university in 1993 ignited a love of travel. To pay for her school and travels, Lisa started working at the age of 16 in the restaurant industry doing various jobs including management. In 1997, she decided that her ultimate goal was to open her own restaurant, but before undertaking that endeavor, she decided that teaching English abroad and learning a new language would be a good idea. She landed in Italy where she fell in love with the mountains, the country, and an Italian man. What was supposed to be a year or two overseas became more permanent. She has been guiding tours privately, and for Rick Steves’ since 1999. When she is not guiding tours, Lisa likes exploring the region, enjoying la dolce vita, cooking up a storm with her garden’s produce and writing about the country and culture she has adopted. She lives in Piedmont with her husband and sons.
