ABOUT THE BOOK

The Pilgrimage is a first-person narrative of the autobiographical adventures of the Paulo Coelho during his trek along Spain’s “ Camino de Santiago” or “The Way of St. James”—the pilgrimage route across the northern portion of the country that dates back to more than one thousand years ago. The novel is a parable about the need to find our own way in life and become better people through a higher spiritual growth. It fully encapsulates Coelho’s humanist philosophy and superbly reflects the human need to search for life’s deeper meaning.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Brazilian author Paulo Coelho has led a storied life full of tragedy, anguish, love, and re-awakening. He flirted with death, drugs, ran away from madness, learned to cope with torture, suffered and enjoyed love, and made a successful career in music as a songwriter; but never gave up his dream: to write. He is fortunate enough to do what he likes and be known for it.

After a profound spiritual experience as a pilgrim on Spain’s famed “Camino de Santiago, “ Coelho abandoned his career as a lyricist to pursue his soul’s yearning to become a writer. His wrote The Pilgrimage in 1987 and has since written more than two dozen books (including his most famous, The Alchemist) which have been published in 150 countries and translated into 56 languages. He is proud to be in the top 5 bestselling authors in the world.

In his own words: “The bridge was the link in between the will to do something and the fact of making it. I had the dream to write but not the courage. Experiencing The Camino has made me who I am today.”
